Visit paid to the Intellectual Disabilities Foundation in Aruba (VGA).
ORANJESTAD—Drs. Mervin Wyatt-Ras, Minister of Public Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addict Care, visited SVGA this week.
It was established in 1964 to help individuals with intellectual disabilities become more independent by offering them care, direction, and education.
Director Els van Homelen, the management and financial team, and group leaders, staff, and clients of the different agencies, received Minister Wyatt-Ras.
A tour was conducted, among others, at Briyo di Solo, Centro Man na Obra, Pasadia Bibito Pin, and Cas Blenchi, and ended at Cas Shabururi, where the minister received a presentation of how to work with means at their disposal. The purpose of each visit is to get a comprehensive overview of each department.
According to Minister Wyatt-Ras, each center works passionately and with heart, embracing the diversity that each client brings.
Like the great majority of departments, there are difficulties, but the goal is to accomplish the projects and goals that have been defined in collaboration with the director and each department.
Director Els van Homelen also thanks Minister Wyatt-Ras for her visit to Stichting Verstandelijk Gehandicapten Aruba (SVGA). It is crucial to observe the work done in such a facility from the same perspective.
Personal contact strengthens the relationship and thus provides a better opportunity, in the form of dialogue, to reach solutions, overcome challenges, and achieve goals ahead.
