Transfer of power to Prince and Pancho to lead Carnival 70

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - On Sunday, January 28, 2024, the traditional symbolic transfer of power to the Prince and Pancho of Carnival 70 took place in front of the Government Office, marking the start of the festivities with the Children's Parade of Oranjestad.

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes expressed in her speech that it is a pleasure and an honor for the government to open the doors of the Government Office to welcome the prominent figures of Carnival 70. Additionally, the Prince and Pancho of Carnival 70, in their decrees, expressed their desire for more unity, attention to our children and youth, and to unite Aruba and provide strong support for Carnival. There were also specific requests to various ministers, which the Prime Minister shared with her colleagues.

The Prime Minister urged parents not to bring small children to the Carnival Parade if possible. The advice for older children is to protect them from the intense sun, shield their ears with earplugs, ensure they drink enough, keep a close eye on them, and ensure they enjoy Carnival. She urges all adults not to abuse alcohol to avoid problems. Enjoy Carnival healthily with family and friends and create memories of this festive occasion.

The symbolic sword transfer to the child prince and child pancho took place to protect our Children's Carnival. The youth prince and youth pancho received the symbolic sword to defend our youth during Carnival, and our adult prince and adult pancho received the key symbolizing the trust and support of the Prime Minister to lead our Carnival 70.

The classic prince and pancho received a spare key in case the adult prince and pancho lost their key. Each monarch received a pin from the Prime Minister.

Finally, the Prime Minister thanked SMAC for organizing Carnival 70, and all participants, musicians, and the general public for making Aruba's Carnival 70 something to be proud of.
