Three Pillars in the Healthcare Sector
ORANJESTAD – The Ministry of Public Health shared its vision based on three pillars: improvement, investment, and prevention to improve the quality of care and services.
Pillar 1: Improvement
The entire healthcare sector has signed a care agreement to enhance the quality of care and services, which defines the direction for future healthcare. It aims to safeguard the AZV fund and guarantee general medical insurance for all insured individuals. The care agreement focuses on priorities such as strengthening primary care, increasing accessibility, reducing waiting lists, and filling specialist vacancies.
Pillar 2: Investment
The government allotted money for investments in the hospital, new ambulances, IMSAN's Radiotherapy Center, Respaldo, Stichting Bob, and other projects. The budget is a crucial component of the care agreement.
Pillar 3: Prevention
Given the importance of prevention in healthcare, a National Prevention Plan has been created in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and healthcare stakeholders.
The preventative plan goal is the community's knowledge and education on a healthier lifestyle, improved quality of life, and increased productivity in day-to-day living.
The Healthy Lifestyle Center is a guidance and coaching center for everyone striving for a healthier lifestyle.
A community's joint responsibility and fundamental right is access to high-quality healthcare.
