The United Nations presented the SDGs to the Council of Ministers.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - On March 26, 2024, the Council of Ministers received a presentation on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Ministers received an overview of the SDGs' development process, Aruba's place in the awareness process, and the next steps that need to be taken by Aruba to meet these targets during the presentation.

The United Nations hired Mrs. Pytrik Dieuwke Oosterhof, a consultant from UN ECLAC, to deliver the presentation to the Council of Ministers. Oosterhof developed a communication strategy tailored to Aruba, outlining the steps the government, private sector, and government, and non-governmental organizations need to take. Oosterhof emphasized that the only way to achieve the SDG goals is by jointly working to create awareness. The interconnectedness between the various SDGs accelerates the achievement process of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. According to Oosterhof, Aruba unconsciously already made significant strides towards these goals. However, there is a lack of communication and connection regarding all efforts (policies, procedures, laws, initiatives) related to the SDGs.

The Council of Ministers was enthusiastic about the United Nations presentation of the communication strategy for raising awareness about the SDGs for 2030. It commits to the strategy implementation to contribute to community awareness of these goals.
