The Outgoing National Days Celebration Commission Submits Financial Reports to the Department of Culture, Aruba
ORANJESTAD – Last week, the outgoing National Days Celebration Commission (CCDN), represented by its Vice President, Mr. Junior Arends, Treasurer, Mrs. Jeanine Franken, and member, Mr. Marlon Rasmijn, officially submitted its financial reports—covering the period from 2018 through March 2025—to Mr. Siegfried Dumfries, Director of the Department of Culture Aruba (DCA).
The CCDN was established by ministerial decree of the Minister of Culture, with the mandate to plan, coordinate, and organize Aruba’s official and traditional national events, thereby strengthening the nation’s cultural heritage and identity.
Between 2018 and March 2025, the Commission successfully organized various national celebrations, such as Betico Day, National Anthem and Flag Day, King’s Day, San Juan – Dera Gay, the Sinterklaas Arrival, the Dande Festival, Dodenherdenking, and Boy Ecury’s Memorial Day.
The submission of these reports marks an important step in fulfilling the Commission’s formal responsibilities. It demonstrates a commitment to the responsible and transparent management of government funds provided by the DCA. The report provides a summary of activities along with a detailed account of the utilization of financial resources.
The Commission extends its sincere gratitude to the Government of Aruba, the former Ministry of Culture, and the Department of Culture Aruba for their continuous support. Special recognition goes to Mr. Marlon Rasmijn, an employee of DCA’s Financial Division, whose dedication and service as a CCDN member greatly contributed to the Commission’s financial administration.
The Commission also expresses its appreciation to all current and former members of the CCDN, as well as to the many partners, institutions, companies, and communities that contributed to the success of each celebration. A heartfelt thank-you goes to all artists, musicians, artisans, and vendors who brought life and color to the national festivities.
With this handover, the Commission closes a chapter marked by transparency, dedication, and national pride—reaffirming its ongoing commitment to preserve and celebrate Aruba’s cultural and national identity.
“It has been an honor to serve our beloved country, Aruba.”
