The Healthy Lifestyle Center is now open at MFA Savaneta.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - On April 13, 2024, the official opening of the Healthy Lifestyle Center (HLC) at MFA Savaneta took place.

Minister of Tourism and Public Health Dangui Oduber,  HLC staff, and the public attended to celebrate the opening of the HLC's second location.

The Healthy Lifestyle Center began on February 23, 2023, with its first location at the offices of Ibisa in Oranjestad. The main goal of HLC is to provide the population with professional guidance in nutrition and exercise, especially for those at risk of health complications due to an unhealthy lifestyle. The aim is to guide participants in adapting their lifestyle to a healthier one.

HLC offers personalized nutrition and exercise guidance tailored to the life of each specific client. This program lasts for three months, during which clients have weekly appointments with a dietitian who teaches them how to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

HLC has more than 350 active clients who have collectively lost  433 kg. In addition, HLC offers other programs such as courses in schools, courses in companies, free regular check-ups for the community, and monthly group exercises open to the community.

HLC offers a program called "Improving Lives Together." This program lasts for three months and involves a total of 20 clients. It provides intensive nutrition and exercise guidance in a community-based setting. During this period, clients receive, in addition to weekly consultations with a dietitian at HLC, an exercise program held three times a week at a gym where they receive professional guidance on how to safely and effectively exercise.

HLC is committed to expanding its services and reaches out to organizations to assist everyone. It is also why they have opened one of their locations to be accessible to everyone in Aruba. HLC aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Public Health to focus on prevention, which also aligns with the implementation of the National Multisectoral Plan against NCDs 2020–2030 agreed upon between DVG and PAHO in 2019.

Minister Oduber congratulates the professional team of HLC, the Directorate of Public Health, the Health Promotion Platform, and everyone contributing to making HLC a successful program. He also invites the community to visit the center and obtain information. Take the first step to receive professional guidance and change your lifestyle to a healthier one.
