The government is introducing a new garbage bin with double capacity in Oranjestad
ORANJESTAD - Minister of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development, Geoffrey Wever, together with the "Metabolic Foundation," will introduce a series of new garbage bins with double capacity (100 gallons) to replace the existing ones in the city center.
The aim is to improve cleanliness and promote sustainability as part of the revitalization of downtown Oranjestad.
The Metabolic Foundation is a local organization producing various plastic products collected and recycled in Aruba. This project is part of the effort to breathe new life into Oranjestad, with cleanliness being an integral and essential element. The government emphasizes sustainable projects and underscores the importance of the environment and the creation of a new economy based on the circular model. All these efforts are aimed at stimulating the local economy, demonstrating a progressive and sustainable vision for the future of Oranjestad.
During a visit to the workshop of the Metabolic Foundation, the minister received a detailed explanation of the production process of the garbage bins. The new bins, designed to accommodate a larger volume of waste, aim to address the shortcomings of the current bins in the city center, which have small capacities and are in poor condition, thereby contributing to a cleaner and more organized environment. The new garbage bins are produced with plastic collected and recycled in Aruba.
The new garbage bins are a significant step in raising awareness in the community about the importance of recycling and proper waste management. Furthermore, it reflects the government of Aruba's commitment to supporting local organizations in expanding their capacity to contribute to waste management on our island.
The AWG. 60,000 investment in this project will benefit Aruba through awareness and waste reduction.
