The Department of Public Health, DVG, urges all travelers who have returned to Aruba after vacationing to pay attention to their health.

ORANJESTAD - The Directie Volksgezondheid (DVG) urges all travelers who have recently returned after traveling abroad to pay attention to their health in the days after their return.

After observing international developments regarding infectious and blood-borne diseases, the DVG urges all travelers to be aware of any symptoms that may indicate a disease acquired during travel.

Symptoms that should be taken seriously include:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Body rash or spots
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Extraction
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Red eyes
  • Swollen glands

These symptoms may be related to diseases such as Chikungunya, Yellow Fever, Measles, or other gastrointestinal infections.

The DVG advises all travelers having one or more of these symptoms to contact their family doctor immediately for a medical evaluation and appropriate care. The doctor will determine if additional testing or other preventive measures are needed.

It is of utmost importance that people seeking medical attention mention their recent travel history. The information is essential for medical evaluation and to identify the illness as soon as possible.

By reporting on time, you not only protect yourself but also, by extension, protect your family and community.

The DVG will continue to monitor the regional and international situation and inform the community as necessary.

You can contact the DVG by calling 522-4200 or sending an email to service@dvg.aw.
