The Department of Labour and Research introduces the "Tienda Legal Laboral”: an innovative initiative to bring labour counseling to the neighborhood.

ORANJESTAD - The Department of Labour and Research has officially opened the doors of the Tienda Legal Laboral (TLL) at the Savaneta MFA. This innovative pilot project marks an important transformation of the “Conflicto y Retiro” section of the Department of Labour.

From conflict to prevention
The launch of the Tienda Legal Laboral (TLL) is more than just a name change; it represents a new way of working and being proactive. Whereas previously the focus was on resolving labour disputes that had already arisen, TLL now also functions as a central information hub focused on prevention. TLL aspires to foster a healthier and more transparent labour market in Aruba by informing workers and employers early on about their rights and duties.

Accessible and in the neighborhood
A key point of this pilot project is accessibility. With Tienda Legal Laboral, we significantly lower the threshold for advice by being present in the neighborhood, starting with MFA Savaneta. MFA Savaneta is the first location to open its doors and will soon be followed by other MFAs on the island. Thus, offering the service in more places to provide support in a neutral and trusting environment.
Tienda Legal Labor aspires to provide services based on five pillars: Fairness, Professionalism, Serviceability, Uniformity, and Accessibility. Whether it is a question about wages, employment relations, employment contracts, or mediation in a labor dispute, Tienda Legal Laboral is there for both the worker and the employer.

Intake
To keep the threshold as low as possible, TLL will operate on an intake basis. We will try to serve citizens immediately according to availability. If this is not possible, we will help make an appointment for another time.
Starting Monday, May 4, the following opening hours for intake will be in effect:

  • Monday - Friday: 08:00 – 12:00 & 13:00 – 15:30
  • Wednesday: 08:00 – 12:00

Location and contact
The pilot project officially comes into force at MFA Savaneta (Savaneta 121-F).
For citizens who prefer to receive information by phone or e-mail first, TLL is temporarily available via:

The Department of Labour and Research invites the entire community to come and get acquainted with this new form of service. Together, we will work on justice in the workplace, right in your neighborhood.
