The Chairman of the Social and Economic Council (SER) of the Netherlands receive the Prime Minister of Aruba.

ORANJESTAD – During a recent meeting between Prime Minister Mike Eman and Dr. Kim Putters, Chairman of the Social and Economic Council (SER), they addressed key issues for Aruba’s development.

The talks centered on two core themes:

  • a sustainable economy
  • a society that directly benefits from that growth.

The Aruban government emphasizes the significance of sustainable tourism, economic diversification, social cohesion, and equal opportunities within the community. In addition to economic indicators, we can gauge prosperity by the quality of life factors such as better schools, more robust neighborhoods, contemporary infrastructure, and the conservation and restoration of the environment.

A central theme of the discussions was the involvement of businesses and the hotel sector in integrating corporate social responsibility into their strategies. This demonstrates that economic progress can align with the well-being of the community. The government is developing a model that balances profitability with a commitment to employee well-being, neighborhood welfare, and environmental sustainability. The dialogue organized in Aruba provides a platform for the business and hotel sectors to share experiences and strengthen social engagement. In this, the SER remains a key partner, advising the government on strategic directions, analyzing opportunities, and underlining the importance of dialogue.

Aruba finds itself at a turning point. The pandemic has demonstrated that solidarity and international cooperation are crucial for building resilience. The island is striving for a future in which economic stability, social prosperity, and environmental protection are interconnected and mutually reinforcing.

While growth is vital, true prosperity should be noticeable in the everyday lives of all Aruban citizens. On its path to a sustainable future, Aruba is committed to working with international partners to ensure that its people, nature, and economy flourish together.
