SVb Aruba Open Day Marks 65 Years of AOV: A Lifeline of Financial Security for Seniors

ORANJESTAD – The Social Insurance Bank (SVb) Aruba celebrated a historic milestone this week: 65 years of the Old Age Insurance (AOV) program, a cornerstone of Aruba’s social safety net that has provided stability and financial security to generations of seniors.

The celebration took place during a lively Open Day at the SVb headquarters on Vondellaan, where residents were invited to learn more about pension benefits and services. Guests received hands-on guidance on the MiPension app, pension applications, and the AOV pension calculator, while also receiving assistance with retrieving AOV numbers and learning how to use the SVb self-service kiosk. Free health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol checks, were added to the event to enhance its wellness component.

One of the day’s most heartfelt moments was the honoring of three longtime SVb employees for their decades of service on the pension team:

  • Raquelina Croes
  • Julius Rustveld
  • Myna Abath

Minister of Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Services, Mervin Wyatt-Ras, joined the celebration to underscore the AOV’s importance and praise the SVb team’s dedication.

“The AOV is a pillar of our social security system. Its 65-year legacy reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring financial stability and dignity for Aruba’s seniors,” Minister Wyatt-Ras said.

The minister also reaffirmed her ministry’s mission to champion social justice and support for the elderly, noting that the AOV, together with other social initiatives, remains vital to safeguarding a secure future for all citizens.
