Restoration of the iconic Cas Veneranda in downtown Oranjestad has begun.
ORANJESTAD: Cas Veneranda is one of Aruba's most iconic buildings, opposite the Town Hall in Oranjestad, ang has been abandoned and neglected for years.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs envisions creating the necessary synergy to increase the number of people visiting the city center, and the restoration of Cas Veneranda was one of the focal points.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs has allocated funds from its budget to invest in this project to relocate the Department of Economic Affairs to Cas Veneranda. The renovation reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Economy, Communication, and Sustainable Development to invest in the center of Oranjestad.
The restoration of Cas Veneranda will not only have office spaces, but also solar panels to reduce monthly energy costs, efficient air conditioning, and insulation—all necessary to make the building as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible.
Additionally, there will be space available for rent for a restaurant, and there will also be meeting and conference rooms. In recent months, preparatory work has been done before the restoration to preserve the building's structural integrity and historical value.
The relocation of government departments to downtown Oranjestad is one of the strategies to attract more people during office hours and, in this way, create commercial activity for shops.
