Prime Minister attends presidential inauguration ceremony in Panama
ORANJESTAD - On Monday, July 1, 2024, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes attended the ceremonial transfer of presidential power in Panama between the outgoing president, Mr. Laurentino Cortizo, and the new president, Mr. José Raúl Mulino.
After the ceremony, attendees greeted and conversed with President Mulino and the First Lady.
Present at this special occasion were King Felipe VI of Spain and the presidents of Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Barbados. Also in attendance were the Prime Ministers of Aruba and Belize and the Vice Presidents of Guatemala and El Salvador.
One of the goals of the Aruban government is to position Aruba as a strong country in the region and to become somewhat more independent from the Netherlands. Therefore, events like these, where Aruba has the chance to strengthen ties with other countries, are of great importance. The ceremonial occasion was an opportune moment to meet and converse with the representatives of the countries in attendance to strengthen ties and achieve the goal of a stronger position.
Prime Minister Wever-Croes, on behalf of Aruba and the Kingdom, wishes President José Raúl Mulino and the Panamanian people much success and all the best in the coming period.
