Presentation of two works translated into Papiamento: Republica (Plato) and The Manual (Epictetus)
ORANJESTAD—The National Library of Aruba invites the public to a presentation of two books in Papiamento. Author Richard A. Frank has translated two classic works into Papiamento: Plato's "Republica" and Epictetus' "The Manual."
The presentation will take place at the National Library of Aruba on October 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Sr. Frank translated two classic works that remain relevant, shocking, and impressive after centuries.
Richard A. Frank, an Aruban-born chemical engineer, worked professionally for 33 years in the design industry, engineering, oil refineries, electricity generation, and drinking water production. In 2024, Frank retired and now devotes himself full-time to one of his greatest passions: creative writing and reading. A significant transition from operating within a rigid and precise technical environment to engaging in the reflective and dynamic exploration of an artistic realm filled with imagination and literary expression. This presents a new and highly intriguing challenge.
Frank published 'Essays on Balance' in 2016, and this work is included in the National Collection of the Department of Arubiana. The author also published 'Light' in 2021, 'The Diary of Aloisius Braendt' in 2022, and 'Twelve Moons' in 2023 and wrote stories for 'Antalogia Arubano' in 2024.
