Preparation of Country of Aruba's 2027 budget has begun.
ORANJESTAD—On January 7, 2026, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, and the Primary Sector officially launched the process for preparing Aruba's 2027 budget.
In collaboration with the Department of Finance, they provided relevant information to all departments under the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, and the Primary Sector.
The Department of Finance presented the "Budget Regulations and Guidelines" manual to coordinate and implement the 2027 priorities in accordance with legally established budgetary standards. This manual contains the dates by which all legally prescribed tasks must be performed. The goal is for the Aruban Parliament to receive the 2027 budget on time, namely by September 1, 2026.
The 2027 budget will be the first government budget to apply the concept of policy-oriented budgeting. This means that, in addition to the policy priorities, the costs of implementing them are also presented. It represents a significant step towards responsible and sustainable financial management, ensuring greater transparency regarding the expenditure of government revenues and financial management for the development of Aruba.
During the information session, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, Geoffrey Wever, emphasized the importance of good cooperation and communication between the various ministries and their departments. This is essential for achieving a 2027 budget that both reflects government policy priorities and complies with legally established budgetary standards.
Minister Wever expressed his gratitude to the Department of Finance for coordinating the budget process. He emphasized the importance of jointly establishing management priorities that reflect the government's vision and policy. Aruba is thus taking a new step in the budget process.
Although challenging, according to Minister Wever, this approach will lead to the necessary transparency and make a positive contribution to Aruba's further development.
