The afternoon started with a prayer by Pastor Euphema McLean of God's Faith Pavilion Deliverance Ministries, followed by a speech by Honorary Consul of Jamaica Donald Taylor via video. Also speaking was the Vice-President of Parliament, Mr. Muzannin Wever, followed by MP Otami Thomasia.

Prime Minister Mr. Mike Eman addressed himself to all present.

“The moment of raising the Jamaican flag at the airport roundabout is a moment of recognition, respect, and affirmation that the Jamaican community belongs and is part of the Aruban community.

The prime minister, in his speech, emphasized the importance of the presence of the Jamaican community on our island; there is not a single job where a Jamaican has not been seen working. They are there with every task, every struggle, every drop of sweat that is part of the fight for a better Aruba.
