Neighborhood Action in Brazil Neighborhood Center

ORANJESTAD – On September 4, the Neighborhood Action team (Accion di Bario) visited the communities of Rooi Kochi and Brazil to provide cleaning services and engage directly with residents.

Prime Minister Mr. Mike Eman, together with representatives from Serlimar, DOW, the Bureau of City Inspector, and Serlimar, encouraged residents to take an active role in keeping their neighborhoods clean and well-maintained.

During the visit, Prime Minister Eman and Minister Mervin Wyatt-Ras stopped at the Brazil Neighborhood Center, highlighting a special initiative dedicated to Brazilian tree preservation.

In the past, Aruba was home to abundant vegetation, including a significant number of Brazilian trees. Their wood was historically used to build boats, craft furniture, and produce charcoal. Over time, this extensive use led to the near disappearance of the species on the island. To counter this loss, and as part of the National Reforestation Plan, they planted a Brazilian tree in front of the Brazil Neighborhood Center. Additionally, they planted guava, fofoti, shimarucu, and pomegranate trees on the grounds of the center.

The National Reforestation Plan, titled “Let’s Sow Hope,” is a vital effort to restore Aruba’s natural ecosystem and revive native tree species that have almost vanished from the island.
