Multi-dimensional family therapy

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - The Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) training certification took place recently in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Social Affairs and the Attorney General.

Participants from Respaldo, White Yellow Cross, Probation, Hunto Foundation, and Fundacion Guiami completed the training.

Present at the certification, in addition to the trainers from Stichting Jeugd Interventies Nederland, were the directors of the agencies, as well as the coordinator of the Safety House.

In Aruba, resources for the treatment of criminal youth and their families are not always available. It is a considerable concern that is high on the Security House agenda. Given the complex youth problems in Aruba, the multi-dimensional family therapy method has been suggested as an alternative to make a difference for these families. It is a time-intensive method to reduce crime, prevent recidivism, and restore relationships in family and family systems.

The Minister of Justice and Social Affairs and the Attorney General's Office provided the funds to attend this training. The participants have affiliation with the Safety House, and the training lasted over a year and a half.

Good luck to the therapists in putting this method into practice.
