More Organizations Join Forces for the "National Day of Care for Aruba"

ORANJESTAD – The "National Day of Care for Aruba" is a government initiative designed to strengthen shared responsibility for the care of our island.

With the slogan "For me. For you. For all of us.", the campaign invites citizens, businesses, schools, clubs, foundations, and organizations to participate in a major nationwide cleanup effort on Saturday, July 25.

In addition to cleaning up various areas across Aruba, the initiative aims to raise awareness that environmental care is a shared responsibility and that a clean Aruba begins with the commitment of every individual citizen.

As part of the preparations, Prime Minister Mike Eman met with representatives from several organizations that will play a crucial role in bringing this initiative to life. In attendance at the meeting were: Jeremy Croes (General Manager of the Aruban Petroleum Company, CAP), Rino Hermans (Director of the Crisis Management Office, CMO), Marc Figaroa (CEO of the Aruba Ports Authority, APA), Esther Emerencia-Gomes (Director of Post Aruba N.V.), and Roland Croes, P.E. (CEO of SETAR N.V.).

During the meeting, attendees discussed partner coordination, logistical support, and the specific ways each organization can contribute to the success of this national effort. Jeremy Croes noted that CAP views the initiative as a positive step that reflects the community's desire for a cleaner island. He indicated that while CAP is a relatively small organization, it is exploring ways to provide active support and participate in the cleanup.

Rino Hermans emphasized that the initiative also carries significant strategic value, particularly with the ongoing hurricane season in mind. According to Hermans, a clean Aruba helps reduce the risk of infrastructure damage during extreme weather. It also supports public health by minimizing accumulated waste in local neighborhoods. He stated that the CMO will leverage its expertise in coordination and planning to streamline collaboration among the various partners.

Marc Figaroa confirmed that the Aruba Ports Authority fully supports the initiative. He noted that the campaign effectively raises awareness about the importance of caring for our island and announced that APA will provide logistical support, including making waste containers available to facilitate the cleanup.

Through the "National Day of Care for Aruba," the government invites all sectors of the community to actively participate and show that, by joining forces, we can make a real difference in keeping Aruba clean, beautiful, and sustainable for future generations.
