More funds for the Stimami Sterilisami 2025 project.

ORANJESTAD—The Government announced the approval of a donation of 200,000 florins from the Tourism Product Enhancement Fund (TPEF) and an additional 200,000 florins from the budget of the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) for the Stimami Sterilisami 2025 project.

It represents a significant increase compared to previous years, underscoring the Government of Aruba's commitment to addressing the population of cats and dogs on the streets of Aruba by bringing humane and sustainable solutions.

The signing ceremony brought together key partners, including Ronella Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority; Crescenzia Biemans, as Secretary of Stimami Sterilisami; and Rik van der Berg of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort. These organizations create a strong coalition focused on enhancing animal welfare, safeguarding Aruba's environment, and improving the island's tourist image.

The visitors’ experiences in Aruba are closely tied to the well-being of our community. Overpopulation of animals on the street not only affects public safety and our environment, but it also impacts the way our island is perceived. By increasing our support to 200,000, we are making a strong and compassionate investment in our tourism product, our environment, and our people,” stated Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor Mr. Wendrick Cicilia.

Ronella Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority, expressed that it is an honor to contribute for the 8th time with Stimami Sterilisami. "If we go back in time from 2016, ATA provides support to this cause," said Ronella Croes. Over the years, the Aruba Tourism Authority has contributed a total of 850,000 florins through tourism funds.

This funding will allow Stimami Sterilisami to continue offering sterilization procedures, but this time free of charge for dogs and cats around our island, ensuring that no animal is left without sterilization due to financial constraints. The project also incorporates education and outreach efforts to promote responsible pet ownership and long-term population control.

"Thanks to the contribution of TPEF and ATA, which they have doubled this year, there will be a sum of 800,000 that makes it possible for the community of Aruba to sterilize their pets completely free of charge," was the expression of Crescenzia Biemans, Chief Corporate Officer of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort. The Aruba Tourism Authority allocated 200,000 florins, TPEF allocated 200,000 florins, and Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort contributed a total of 400,000 florins to make this project possible.

The Stimami Sterilisami project directly aligns with TPEF's mission to invest in projects that enhance Aruba's tourism product while benefiting the community and the environment. By addressing this issue collaboratively, the government and its partners are reinforcing Aruba's reputation as a One Happy Island for both people and animals.
