Ministers Endy Croes and Geoffrey Wever sign MOU with Stenden University
ORANJESTAD - On March 11, 2024, the representatives of Stenden University met with the Minister of Education and Sports, Endy Croes, and the Minister of Economic Affairs, Communications, and Sustainable Development, Geoffrey Wever.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Communications and Sustainable Development, and the Ministry of Education and Sports joined forces with the university to launch an exchange program for university students from the Netherlands. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) paves the way for Stenden University students to live and study in Aruba.
“We are looking to revive our city center, and a student exchange program like this will transform our city into a place where education and different cultures meet and live together.” Minister Geoffrey Wever stated. The hope is it will help bring more activity and energy to the heart of Oranjestad.
The government of Aruba recently started the transformation process of the former building that housed the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Oranjestad into a student apartment complex as part of the various initiatives of the Ministry of Economy to revitalize the Oranjestad Center. Part of the vision is for more people to live in the center and to renovate abandoned buildings, especially for students.
