Minister of Finance met with CAFT.

ORANJESTAD— The Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, recently held the first official meeting with the Aruba Financial Oversight College (CAft).

They discussed topics such as the trajectory of how and why the amendment note for the 2025 budget came to be and the ongoing preparations for the 2026 budget.

The AVP-FUTURO cabinet governing plan is comprehensive. Its fundamental principle is that everyone should benefit from economic development with a fair distribution of the country's resources.

To guarantee pensioners receive an additional 250 florins per month starting May 1 and the reduction on excise duties on gasoline and diesel are reduced, effective May 1, 2025, the new cabinet has submitted an amendment note; this amendment note, submitted on the same day the cabinet was sworn in, was necessary to provide benefits starting May 1 instead of June 1.

On April 2, the Minister of Finance submitted the 2025 budget, unanimously approved by the Parliament of Aruba, to the CAft council for advice.

During the meeting with CAft, Minister Geoffrey Wever emphasized that the management of public finances is sustainable and reflects the government's efforts to improve purchasing power, reduce the cost of living, and provide security to both local and international investors through prudent and transparent financial management, as outlined in the 2025-2028 Government Program.

The Ministry of Finance's guiding principle is a robust partnership between CAft and Aruba to accomplish sustainable and judicious public finances while ensuring everyone benefits from the country's development.
