Minister of Finance meets with Professor Roger Hosein from the University of West Indies.

ORANJESTAD - As part of the necessary efforts to comply with the reforms in the Landspakket, Minister of Finance and Culture Xiomara Maduro met with Professor Roger Hosein from the University of West Indies.

Professor Hosein research on behalf of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Geoffrey Wever, on the topic E6 of the Landspakket to obtain a detailed overview of the economic opportunities for Aruba's economy, for which he also met with former Ministers of Economic Affairs of Aruba.

In the presence of the Director of the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce and Industry, Maria Dijkhoff-Pita, Minister Xiomara Maduro and her advisor Nilo Swaen, both former Ministers of Finance and Economic Affairs, answered some questions from Professor Hosein. During the interview, they elaborated on the development of Aruba's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the labor market participation to contribute to Aruba's economic growth.

They gave an overview of the work carried out with stakeholders in 2019 to identify the "six promising sectors" that indicate in which direction to diversify the Aruba economy. They referred to the "Economic Policy, a Strong and Resilient Economy 2019-2022," which contains the policies implemented by the Minister in charge of Economic Affairs in recent years.
