Minister of Finance and Culture visits Tula Museum in Curaçao
ORANJESTAD - Recently, Minister of Finance and Culture Xiomara Maduro visited Curaçao on behalf of the Government of Aruba during the celebration of Curaçao Flag Day.
She took the opportunity to visit the Tula Museum, located at Landhuis Kenepa, also known as Plantage Knip.
At the Tula Museum, historian Jeanne Henriquez accompanied Minister Maduro and shared the story of Tula's struggle, resilience, and the emancipation process under his leadership in Curaçao. In the open-air museum, known as the Tula Museum, visitors get an overview of significant persons from Africa, the Caribbean, and other countries who inspired the fight for freedom led by Tula. There are also artworks inspired by the emancipation struggle in our region during the same period that Tula fought in Curaçao. A section of the museum reminds us of the role of women in the emancipation struggle.
Minister Xiomara Maduro is grateful for the opportunity to learn more about Tula's struggle. She hopes that in the future, the museums of Aruba and Curaçao will collaborate so that we can learn about the history of emancipation and freedom of our people.
