Minister of Economic Affairs in meeting with Chamber of Commerce

ORANJESTAD - Recently took place a meeting of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Communications, and Sustainable Development, Geoffrey Wever, with the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Sr. Kemmerling, and Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Balkenstein, on different points of attention relevant to the economy and that deserves attention. 

Every six (6) weeks, the Chamber of Commerce of Aruba meets with the Minister of Economic Affairs to discuss and strategize on different topics and make concrete arrangements for trade in Aruba.

The topics of this week's meeting were, among others:

  1. The result of the Trade Mission to Suriname organized by the Minister of Economic Affairs together with the Chamber of Commerce and ATIA;
  2. the problems in the labor market and the lack of adequate staff
  3. the charge for making use of the digital portal of the Chamber of Commerce, 
  4. the contract between WEB Aruba N.V. and Eagle LNG, 
  5. Aruba's participation in a possible Trade Mission to Panama, 
  6. an update on the plans to revitalize San Nicolas and Oranjestad, 
  7. the study commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on the macroeconomic structure of Aruba's economy by Professor Roger Hosein and with the Netherlands, 
  8. aid that Aruba is going to receive from the United Nations for the development of the FINTECH sector in Aruba;
  9. Oranjestad's certification process as Culinary Capital.
