Minister Cicilia Highlights Youth Leadership at United Nations 30th Anniversary of Global Youth Action Plan
ORANJESTAD—Aruba’s Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor, Wendrick Cicilia, joined world leaders, international organizations, and young changemakers in New York on Thursday, September 25, 2025, to mark the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY).
The Opening High-Level Event: 30 Years of the World Programme of Action for Youth brought together in New York leaders to reflect on three decades of youth empowerment and outline new strategies for the future.
Minister Cicilia, the youngest minister in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, underscored the urgency of ensuring meaningful youth participation in decision-making.
“Empowering youth today is not just an investment in the future, it is the foundation of a more sustainable and inclusive tomorrow,” he said.
Discussions during the event emphasized the essential role of youth in tackling global challenges like climate change, economic resilience, social inclusion, and peacebuilding. Delegates emphasized that youth leadership is crucial for building stronger and more sustainable societies.
