Michael Lampe's music plays at the prestigious Battery Dance Festival in New York.

ORANJESTAD—Composer, producer, multidisciplinary artist, and cultural ambassador of Aruba, Michael Lampe, will have his music presented in the prestigious Battery Dance Festival in New York City as part of a choreography by Curaçao choreographer Faizah Grootens.

The festival, which takes place from August 10 to 16, 2025, is one of this season’s premier cultural events in New York, attracting thousands of people and a global audience via streaming. The selection of Faizah's work, accompanied by original music by Michael Lampe, is a significant step for Caribbean talent representation on a well-recognized international stage.

About the work

Faizah Grootens' choreography is an exploration of identity, memory, and movement, which she integrated with a musical composition by Michael Lampe. The music fuses Caribbean rhythms with electronic textures played with classical instruments, creating a deep dialogue between movement and sound.

Michael Lampe about the collaboration:

"It is a great honor to work with Faizah and for our Caribbean works to shine at a world-class festival. It is more than a performance—it is an act of cultural representation and a bridge to our history and creativity. Such moments open the way for more of our talents from Aruba and the Caribbean to also have international opportunities. This is something I fight for tirelessly.
The performance will take place August 12-16 at Rockefeller Park, NYC, and will be streamed online to a global audience at www.batterydance.org/battery-dance-festival.
