Meeting with the Dutch Ambassador in Panama regarding a trade mission to Panama

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - Currently, the Ambassador of the Kingdom to Panama, Mr. Sander Cohen, is visiting Aruba.

During his visit, Mr. Cohen met with the Prime Minister, Evelyn Wever-Croes, Minister of Economic Affairs, Communications and Sustainable Development, Geoffrey Wever, Minister of Tourism and Public Health Dangui Oduber, ATIA, the Chamber of Commerce, AHATA, and various other stakeholders to begin preparing for the trade mission.

During his visit to the Minister Wever, he was accompanied by Holland House's director in Panama, Mr. Robert Bosman, Director of the Department of Foreign Relations (DBB), Ms. Jocelyne Croes, and senior policy advisor to DBB, Ms. Ghislaine Nicolaas, in connection with a trade mission that the Dutch ambassador to Panama and Holland House's director are organizing for the Dutch islands in December 2024.

A country usually organizes a trade mission to attract trade delegations from other countries. However, this trade mission is for the Dutch islands in the Caribbean, a sign of solidarity within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

As a country that imports most of its products, Aruba needs to continue exploring the region where we can find cheaper products and offer more commercial options. The participation of other Dutch islands, such as Curaçao and Bonaire, is also noteworthy, as it provides the opportunity to identify challenges and seek mutual solutions.

Logistics is always a challenge, and possibly consolidating cargo for the islands will translate into lower transportation costs, resulting in cheaper product prices for the consumer. The Ministry of Economic Affairs invites local entrepreneurs to participate in this trade mission, which will take place in December 2024 in Panama.
