Meeting on the development of the former DOW building
ORANJESTAD - On Monday, February 5, 2024, Minister of Tourism and Public Health, Mr. Dangui Oduber, together with the Director of the Aruban Ports Authority (APA), Mr. Marc Figaroa, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), Mrs. Ronella Croes, a representative of DOW, and the Monument Bureau Aruba, Mr. Raul Gei, held a "kick-off meeting" for the project of the former DOW building, which will begin soon.
The project for the former DOW building is a renovation project. This building has been abandoned for 16 years and is an eyesore for visitors disembarking from cruise ships. Soon, Aruba will see the development of the Port City project, which includes the plan to relocate the existing APA offices (across from Yrausquin & Sons) to the renovated former DOW building. Given the size of this building, it will also house the ATA. The APA offices will occupy the second floor, and the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) will lease the first floor and convert it into a Visitor Information Center (VIC) to provide information to our tourists.
The VIC will provide all information about what to do in Aruba, all activities, beaches, restaurants, everything we offer, nightlife, transportation, and much more. It will be a "one-stop-shop" to guide tourists once they disembark from the cruise ship.
The vision and policy of the government in tourism are based on continuous investments in the Aruban product to provide superior quality. It is crucial to maintain our position in the highly competitive market. Finally, the Ministry of Tourism thanks APA, ATA, DOW, and the Monument Bureau Aruba for jointly realizing a project we can be proud of.
