Leerorkest performance at the Renaissance Convention Center
ORANJESTAD—The Leerorkest gave a spectacular musical performance at the Renaissance Convention Center on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 8:30 to 11:30 am.
During the event, 560 children from various elementary schools took to the stage, forming orchestras for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6, while 60 children from the After-School Orchestra completed the performance. The audience was very impressed by the talent and dedication of the children on instruments such as violin, cello, percussion, and brass instruments such as horn and trumpet.
The event highlight was a musical performance of three songs, with the last song featuring a live performance by Aruba's famous artist, Ataniro.
Leerorkest Aruba was started in 2019 as a social-community project, with partial financial support from Leerorkest Nederland, which receives subsidies from the Dutch Ministry of Justice and shares them with Aruba. Leerorkest Aruba wants to give all children on our island the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument during and after school. Children learn to play together on real orchestra instruments in the classroom. In this way, they learn to make music together, work together, listen to one another, respect each other, and, above all, have fun together!
