Launch of the DHR Leadership Program

ORANJESTAD – On October 20, Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers attended the launch of the Leadership Program, organized by the Department of Human Resources (DRH) in collaboration with the Temporary Employment Organization (TWO).

Since last year, DRH and TWO have been collaborating on the development of a program that strengthens leadership within Aruba's public sector. This program aims to equip directors, managers, and supervisors with the essential knowledge and skills needed to invest in employees who provide community services.

Relevance Leren, a company, collaborated in the development of the Leadership Program. This program, offered worldwide, is specifically adapted to the local context and challenges of Aruba. Relevance Leren, in collaboration with the DRH project leader, identified the needs within the public sector and, based on the results, developed a program that optimally aligns with the Aruban reality. The Leadership Program contains training courses for directors and managers responsible for multiple aspects of their organizations. DRH plays a central role in this research, knowledge sharing, and leadership development process within the public sector.

In his opening address, Minister Dowers emphasized the importance of such programs, which support managers in implementing government policy and responding to community needs through high-quality service delivery. He emphasized that enhancing service delivery and optimizing government departments should be approached holistically, ensuring neither employees nor the services the community deserves are compromised.

Exemplary leadership, according to the minister, creates a work environment in which civil servants are motivated to give their best to society, which is ultimately the goal of every government department.
