Inmates at KIA will receive a barbering course.
ORANJESTAD – The Correctional Institute Aruba (KIA)'s inmates attended a barbering seminar.
For some time now, various programs in the form of courses have been offered to the inmates to assist in their reintegration into the community once they leave KIA. They offer these courses based on the prisoners' desire to increase participation and success.
Given the high demand among the inmates for the barbering course, KIA approached Mr. Lambrinos from Lambrinos Barbershop to give a three-day seminar to teach the interested inmates the basics of barbering. Due to the inmates' enthusiasm, they will now provide the entire course will now be provided.
Through these trainings, the prisoners will learn more about the field and develop expertise, enabling them to join the workforce when released from KIA.
A person with a job they enjoy will be motivated and is less likely to return to a life of crime.
Minister of Justice and Social Affairs Rocco Tjon was present at KIA to attend a barbering seminar and congratulated the entire KIA team, Mr. Lambrinos, and the participants.
