Inauguration of the Renovated Centro Colorado Building
ORANJESTAD - On Tuesday, August 28, 2024, the reopening of the Centro Colorado building in San Nicolas took place.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by Minister of Justice Rocco Tjon and representatives of Stichting Hunto, rang the bell to reveal the renovation work at Centro Colorado.
The Centro Colorado building was dilapidated, but when the new board took over in 2019, they started with the changes. The renovation entails the expansion of the rooms for clients to accommodate 40 clients in the renovated center. A section is dedicated only to women, where professionals will guide and provide courses. In addition to the medical and emotional part, some activities focus on their development through social workers, instructors, and more.
The government has prioritized mental health, elevating this issue to a crisis level and giving it the necessary attention. Stichting Hunto has a significant task in combating mental health problems. They bring together everyone in the mental health field to discuss, understand, work, and collaborate in finding solutions to mental health issues.
The Prime Minister thanked his colleagues, Minister of Public Health Dangui Oduber and Minister of Justice Rocco Tjon, for their efforts in mental health care and all employees who work tirelessly to help those suffering from this condition.
