In 2025, FreeZone Aruba Reports Profit for Second Consecutive Year Following Years of Losses
ORANJESTAD — The Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector announces that FreeZone Aruba NV, following a thorough reorganization process, closed its 2025 financial year with a positive result for the second consecutive year.
Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever, representing Land Aruba as the sole shareholder of FreeZone Aruba NV, met with Managing Director Walter Mosher and the Supervisory Board of FreeZone Aruba NV during the 2025 General Meeting of Shareholders.
The approval of the financial statements marks a major milestone in the organizational restructuring and professionalization process that FreeZone Aruba NV has undergone in recent years. A new, highly qualified Supervisory Board has been appointed, and in February 2026, Mr. Walter Mosher assumed his role as the new Managing Director of FreeZone Aruba NV.
For years, FreeZone Aruba NV experienced substantial delays in the approval of its annual financial statements. As part of the turnaround strategy, the organization worked diligently alongside the government to clear the multi-year backlog and finalize all outstanding approvals.
With the completion and approval of the 2025 financial statements, FreeZone Aruba NV is now fully up to date with its financial reporting requirements.
The 2025 financial statements demonstrate strong performance, driven by revenue of Afl. 2,044,222 and a significant reduction in operational expenses. Additionally, the external auditor issued an unqualified (clean) opinion on the financial report. In March 2026, FreeZone Aruba NV announced a preliminary profit of Afl. 482,000 for 2025; the approved financial statements now formalize the year's financial results with a final profit of Afl. 484,305.
The 2025 results are particularly significant when compared to the company's financial standing just a few years ago. After consecutive years of severe losses that brought the entity near bankruptcy, FreeZone Aruba NV achieved its first positive financial result in 2024. The 2025 financial performance confirms a second consecutive year of profitability, proving that structural reforms and strategic operational adjustments are yielding tangible results.
Minister Wever highlighted this achievement as a crucial milestone not only for FreeZone Aruba NV, but also within the broader initiatives aimed at strengthening and diversifying Aruba's economy.
"Two years ago, we were faced with an organization struggling under a massive backlog in financial approvals, facing severe losses, and standing on the brink of bankruptcy. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Supervisory Board, the Managing Director, and the entire team at FreeZone Aruba NV for their dedication throughout this process, enabling us to achieve this remarkable turnaround together."
Financial and administrative streamlining represents only the first phase of this transformation. FreeZone Aruba NV is currently preparing next-stage initiatives to modernize and strengthen its position as Aruba's primary mechanism for attracting foreign investment and driving local economic activity.
Concurrently, tangible progress is being made in attracting new business operations. Several new companies are actively preparing to establish their operations within the Free Zone over the coming months.
These developments build directly upon the strategic framework established by the government and FreeZone Aruba NV through the implementation of the State Decree on Permitted Service Activities (Landsbesluit Toegestane Dienstverlenende Activiteiten). Enacted this year, the decree aims to reposition FreeZone Aruba NV, attract sustainable investments, and support national economic diversification.
"We have successfully laid the foundation. Now, the focus shifts to building upon it. There is significant momentum, and key developments are on the horizon for FreeZone Aruba NV. Our goal is to create a modern, competitive Free Zone that actively contributes to economic diversification and creates new opportunities for Aruba," Minister Wever concluded.
