HPV Vaccine Now Offered to Both Girls and Boys

ORANJESTAD – During the 2026–2027 National School Vaccination Campaign, the Youth Healthcare Department (JGZ) of the Department of Public Health (DVG) is offering the HPV vaccine to girls and, starting this year, to boys of 6th grade.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a common virus that can cause various types of cancer later in life. Both women and men can contract the virus and develop HPV-related cancers. The vaccine is offered at a young age because it provides the best protection before exposure to the virus occurs.

By vaccinating both girls and boys, Aruba is increasing community protection against HPV and helping prevent several types of cancer across our population, including cervical, throat, and penile cancers.

Prior to vaccination, parents or legal guardians will receive informational materials along with a consent form. JGZ will not administer the vaccine without written consent.
