Henny Eman Boulevard Unveiled

ORANJESTAD - At the request of the Henny Eman Foundation, one of Aruba's main roads was named after him on January 6, 2026.

On the same date, January 6, 2025, Aruba bid farewell to its first Prime Minister, Mr. Henny Eman. A section of the road known for decades as L.G. Smith Boulevard, from the Mahuma Roundabout to the Sun Plaza Roundabout, has now been officially renamed Henny Eman Boulevard. This long street runs past Queen Beatrix International Airport, the Aruban Parliament, and the Aruban government headquarters, connecting the island's main tourist area.

During the unveiling ceremony, a gathering also took place where board members of Queen Beatrix International Airport, along with Prime Minister Mike Eman and Minister Wendrick Cicilia, planted two Wayacá Macho trees on the shoulder near the airport roundabout. This was part of the national reforestation plan "Sowing Hope." Together with the unveiling of the Henny Eman Boulevard name, the event underscores the importance of biodiversity and the future of Aruba.

The chairman of the Henny Eman Foundation, Mr. Tico Croes, also spoke Tuesday afternoon during the unveiling of the Henny Eman Boulevard sign. Mr. Croes previously served as a minister in the Eman II and Eman III cabinets.

James Hepple, an expert on Aruban tourism, presented various figures on tourism development over the past decades. Mr. Hepple emphasized that Aruba must continue to focus on tourism and take all necessary measures to ensure its continued prosperity.
