Guardianship Council Celebrates 120th Anniversary and Presents New Logo

ORANJESTAD — On Friday, September 25, the Guardianship Council (Directie Voogdijraad), together with partners in the social and legal chain, celebrated its 120th anniversary.

During the celebration, alongside the official unveiling of the new logo and visual identity, a renovated interior and a specially designed children's room—offering children a calmer and safer environment—were also presented.

The Guardianship Council plays an important and delicate role in the community, particularly in the protection of minors and vulnerable individuals. In a video message, Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers expressed his gratitude for the work the Council has carried out over the years in service of the Aruban community.

Minister Dowers emphasized that protecting children is not always an easy task. In various situations, the Council must intervene in family relationships and make decisions that can be difficult or painful for those involved. However, the government has an obligation to ensure that when things go wrong—and especially when a child's well-being is at risk—responsible authorities take action to protect the most vulnerable.

The celebration of the 120th anniversary also marked a new step in the identity of the organization with the introduction of its new logo and corporate identity. This rebranding symbolizes an organization that honors its history while simultaneously modernizing and strengthening its services to the community.

Another key development is the recently renovated children's room. This special space is intended for minors visiting the Guardianship Council, creating an environment better tailored to their needs, with greater peace and safety during what can often be a difficult or emotional period.

The protection of our children is a shared responsibility. The government, law enforcement agencies, chain partners, and the community all play a role in this. Within this process, the Guardianship Council is an essential instrument to ensure that the interests and well-being of the child are protected.

After 120 years, the Guardianship Council continues to develop, professionalize, and adapt its services with one central goal in mind: the protection of our children, the most vulnerable in our community.
