Governor Receives First Copy of Children’s Book Week Gift for the 34th Children’s Book Festival
ORANJESTAD – On Friday, October 9, the Governor of Aruba, His Excellency Alfonso Boekhoudt, received Mrs. Astrid Britten, Director of the National Library of Aruba (Biblioteca Nacional Aruba), for an audience.
During this visit, the Governor was presented with the first copy of the Children’s Book Week gift for the 34th Children’s Book Festival.
This year, the Children’s Book Week gift is a picture book titled “Rashi Curashi durft!” (“Rashi Curashi Dares!”), written by Aruban author Daylan Krozendijk—a drama teacher at the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA)—and illustrated by Dutch illustrator Petra Heezen.
Mr. Krozendijk accompanied Mrs. Britten during the audience.
The theme of this year’s Children’s Book Festival is “Spotlight On!” (“Spot aan!”), translated into Papiamento as “Luz, Camara, Accion!” (“Lights, Camera, Action!”).
The official opening of the 34th Children’s Book Festival will take place on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the National Library on George Madurostraat.
