Government of Aruba Finalizes Funding for Lago Heights Park
ORANJESTAD – CEDE ARUBA is pleased to announce that the Government of Aruba has approved an additional amount of AWG 170,000 for the development of Lago Heights Park. With this decision, the total project budget has been fully secured.
The realization of Lago Heights Park is made possible through a collaboration between local and international partners. Project funding has been secured through contributions from CEDE ARUBA (co-financier and coordinator), Stichting Jantje Beton (the Netherlands), the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) through the Representation of the Netherlands in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten (VNACS), and the Government of Aruba. Together, these partners have ensured full financial coverage of the project and demonstrated a shared commitment to investing in safe, inclusive, and high-quality public spaces for children and communities in Aruba.
The approval allows the project to enter its final phase of implementation. Construction and installation activities are scheduled to take place from March through May 2026, in close collaboration with local contractors, government agencies, and project partners. The main materials have already been procured, and preparatory work has been completed.
In preparation for implementation, CEDE ARUBA will host a public stakeholder meeting on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at YMCA San Nicolas. The meeting will bring together residents, schools, neighborhood organizations, and other stakeholders who contributed to the co-creation process. Participants will be invited to review the final design, receive an update on the implementation timeline, and explore opportunities for collaboration related to community activities, events, and the long-term maintenance of the park.
Lago Heights Park is designed as a shared public space that supports children’s development, strengthens community life, and encourages active use by families and schools. CEDE ARUBA looks forward to continued collaboration with the Government of Aruba, project partners, and the San Nicolas community to ensure the successful completion and sustainable use of the park.
