Gateway 2030 project advances according schedule

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - On February 28, 2024, the Minister of Tourism and Public Health, Mr. Dangui Oduber, received a tour at the Queen Beatrix Airport from AAA CEO Joost Meijs to receive an update on the Gateway 2030 project, Phase 1A.

AAA provided a comprehensive explanation of the planning for each phase and the respective design of the project that is progressing according to schedule.

Gateway 2030 is a project worth 143 million US dollars and will generate between 200 and 300 direct or indirect jobs at the AAA. Once completed, when departing to the United States, the check-in procedure will only happen once, and passengers will not need to retrieve their luggage before boarding the plane.

It is important to emphasize that local contractors are responsible for the work, and most of the construction materials are purchased locally in Aruba. Gateway 2030 will transform the Queen Beatrix Airport into one of the most modern airports in the Caribbean and Latin America. The departure process to the United States from check-in to boarding will be more efficient and faster.

Phase 1B will start soon, followed by Phases 2 & 3 of the Gateway 2030 project. It is important to note that the Gateway 2030 project is not an easy task and that there are various challenges, given the need to keep the airport operational at all times.

Minister Oduber has confidence in the entire POM team and the AAA, who are working hard to deliver Aruba a modern and innovative airport.
