Fire Department Now Has Forty Certified Firefighters to Operate Aerial Ladder Truck
ORANJESTAD – On July 6, 2026, a certificate ceremony was held for the firefighters who completed their training to operate the Aruba Fire Department's aerial ladder truck.
The intensive course concluded with both a practical and theoretical exam. Jair Tromp, Commander of the Aruba Fire Department, expressed his great satisfaction that the department now boasts a large group of forty certified firefighters capable of operating this modern, highly advanced vehicle.
New Fleet Vehicle for Tanki Flip Station
In addition to the certifications, the Fire Department had another milestone to celebrate: the arrival of a brand-new utility van at the Tanki Flip station.
During the ceremony, Jacobo Winterdal, Sales Manager at Garage Cordia Aruba, officially presented the keys of the new van to the Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transport, and Energy, Dr. Arthur Dowers. Minister Dowers then handed the keys over to Commander Jair Tromp.
The new vehicle, a Toyota Hiace Commuter, will significantly bolster the operational capacity of the Aruba Fire Department and serves as a vital asset for their daily operations.
Investing in Equipment and Expertise
Minister Dowers expressed his satisfaction with the continuous investments being made into the training of fire department personnel. He noted that as the department modernizes its fleet with state-of-the-art vehicles and equipment, it is essential that staff receive the proper training to operate them safely and efficiently.
This expertise not only increases effectiveness during firefighting and other emergencies but also ensures the responsible use of the equipment, preventing unnecessary damage caused by a lack of training.
With the certification of these forty firefighters and the delivery of the new van, the Aruba Fire Department strengthens its operational capacity and readiness to provide the community with fast, safe, and professional service.
