Everything Is Set for the First Edition of the San Nicolas Food Festival

ORANJESTAD – Aruba is preparing to celebrate the inaugural edition of the San Nicolas Food Festival on Friday, July 3, 2026.

From 6:00 p.m. to midnight, Carnival Village will be transformed into Aruba's culinary capital. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

The festival is more than just a culinary event; it is also an economic investment in the future of San Nicolas. It aims to support local entrepreneurs while highlighting a community rich in history, character, and potential. For the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and the Primary Sector, the San Nicolas Food Festival is a tangible example of how government and the community can work together to strengthen the local economy.

San Nicolas has developed a unique culinary identity within the Caribbean. Since the days of the Lago Refinery, the district has been home to families from across the region, including Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, and many other countries. This rich blend of cultures, traditions, and flavors has created a culinary heritage unlike anywhere else in Aruba. Johnny cakes, roti, oxtail, fried fish, rice and peas, hearty stews, soups, traditional pastries, and fresh fruit juices all tell the story of a vibrant and diverse community.

Thirty local vendors have confirmed their participation in this inaugural edition, offering visitors an impressive selection of local and Caribbean cuisine. The festival is expected to attract new customers, create economic opportunities, generate employment, and encourage private investment in the district. According to the Ministry, this is exactly the type of economic activity the government seeks to promote and support.

The event will also feature entertainment for the entire family. Live music, local DJs, steel pan performances, and appearances by artists and cultural groups from San Nicolas will provide a festive atmosphere throughout the evening. Children can enjoy a dedicated Kids' Zone featuring a free Dino Jump and a variety of recreational activities, making the festival a fun outing for visitors of all ages.

The San Nicolas Food Festival is part of a broader vision for the continued development of San Nicolas. As Aruba's designated heritage city, the district deserves sustained attention, strategic investment, and national pride. The government remains committed to positioning San Nicolas as a premier culinary, cultural, and tourism destination in the Caribbean. The revitalization of the district goes hand in hand with initiatives designed to benefit the entire community.

"We firmly believe that economic development should go hand in hand with cultural development. The San Nicolas Food Festival demonstrates how we can create new economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs while celebrating the multicultural heritage that makes San Nicolas so unique. It offers visitors a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience our culture and enjoy one of the most diverse culinary destinations in the Caribbean," said Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and the Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever.

The San Nicolas Food Festival will take place on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Carnival Village in San Nicolas. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., and admission is free to the public.
