DWH employees sworn in as Special Investigating Officers

ORANJESTAD – Five employees of the Food and Consumer Product Inspection and Hygiene Department (DWH) of the Department of Public Health and Welfare have reached an important milestone in their civil service careers.

Between October 2021 and May 2022, they underwent intensive training to become Special Investigating Officers (BOAs). Upon successfully completing the program, they demonstrated their readiness to take on the responsibilities of this role.

Following an evaluation process, their appointment was confirmed by National Decree on August 22, 2025. The official swearing-in ceremony took place on September 25, 2025, before Minister of Justice Arthur Dowers, formally affirming their commitment to serve and protect the Aruban community in matters of public health.

As Special Investigators, their primary duty is to safeguard the community’s well-being by monitoring compliance with public health laws, investigating violations, and enforcing regulations. BOAs are authorized to issue warnings, investigate offenses, and prepare official reports that may result in fines.

The Department of Public Health and the Food Inspection and Hygiene Department commend these employees for their dedication and perseverance. Their achievement marks an important step in strengthening Aruba’s public health oversight and protection.
