DIMAS Reminds Permit Holders: Check Your Residency Permit Before Traveling
ORANJESTAD – The Department of Integration, Policy, and Admission of Foreigners (DIMAS) reminds all residents holding a residency permit to carefully check the expiration date of their documents before traveling abroad.
If your permit is about to expire or has already expired, it is crucial that you submit your renewal application in a timely manner.
Applying and Paying for a Renewal
- You can easily submit your renewal application via the DIMAS online application form.
- Once your application is submitted, a payment order will be sent to the email address provided in your application.
- Payment can be completed online via Bill Payment, or in person at any Tax Department (Departamento de Impuesto) branch.
- Alternatively, you can pay at the self-service payment kiosks located at DIMAS and MFA Savaneta.
When Do You Need a Re-entry Permit?
DIMAS emphasizes that it is not necessary to apply for a re-entry permit if your residency permit remains valid for the entire duration of your trip. However, if you prefer to have a re-entry permit for your own peace of mind, you are welcome to apply for one.
A re-entry permit can be requested if:
- You have a pending application for the renewal of your residency permit.
- You are in a specific situation where, despite holding a valid residency permit, you require this official supporting document.
How to Apply for a Re-entry Permit
To request a re-entry permit, please follow these steps:
- Fill out the form: Download, print, and complete the Re-entry Permit Application Form.
- Pay the fee: Take the completed form to any MFA office and pay the Afl. 40.00 fee at the Tax Department counter.
- Scan your receipt: Create a clear scan or photo of your proof of payment.
- Submit online: Fill out the online 'Proof of Re-entry' form and upload your payment receipt along with all other required documents.
Important Advisory from DIMAS: DIMAS has noted that some clients wait until the very day of their return travel to Aruba to apply for a re-entry permit. This can cause significant complications and delays during border control and boarding procedures.
Therefore, DIMAS strongly advises all applicants to submit their requests well in advance. The processing time is at least one week, provided that all documents are submitted correctly and all requirements are met.
