Call for Farmers to Participate in Survey on Electricity Use in the Primary Sector

ORANJESTAD – Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever is calling on all local producers, including farmers, livestock and poultry breeders, and fishermen, to participate in a survey on electricity use and needs within Aruba’s primary sector.

This initiative forms part of the Government of Aruba’s broader effort to develop a special electricity tariff for those active in the primary sector and to reduce existing bureaucratic barriers related to new connections or capacity expansions.

“The primary sector is crucial for our country’s food security and plays a key role in making Aruba more sustainable and resilient,” stated Minister Wever. “Through this survey, we aim to ensure that our local producers can continue to grow by offering them fairer and more reasonable electricity rates.”

In collaboration with the Departament of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Market Halls/Santa Rosa, ELMAR, and WEB, the Ministry aims to identify the primary needs and challenges faced by those working in the sector, to develop concrete solutions in the short term.

All individuals and organizations active in the primary sector are encouraged to complete the survey online via:

Alternatively, participants may visit Santa Rosa in person to fill out the form and actively contribute to shaping the new electricity tariff policy for the sector.

The deadline to participate in the survey is October 21.
