Book Launch: 'Y ami awo?'
ORANJESTAD – The National Library of Aruba invites the public to the launch of 'Y ami awo?' ('And Me Now?'), a new children’s book by author Rachelle Goedgedrag. The event will take place at the National Library of Aruba on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
Rachelle Lue-Goedgedrag is an Aruban author who loves writing stories that invite readers into worlds full of adventure, evoke diverse emotions, and foster strong connections with characters. In her work, she blends her interest in psychology with her love for Papiamento, creating suspense that keeps readers eager to find out what happens next.
Her passion for writing began by playing with words and composing poetry, which gradually evolved into short stories and eventually full-length novels. She brings relatable emotions, relationships, and everyday situations to life through an accessible, natural writing style, featuring dialogue that captures the authentic way people speak in Aruba.
Rachelle made her literary debut in 2024 with the novel 'Louella,' which garnered significant attention and left readers eager for more. In 2026, she released 'Y ami awo?', her first children's book. With this publication, Rachelle highlights the importance of caring for nature and animals while raising awareness about the role we all play in protecting them.
In addition to being an author, Rachelle teaches psychology, serves as head of the central PR department, and works in the International Affairs department at Colegio EPI in Aruba. She is also the founder of the 'Connect and Shine Foundation,' an organization that brings people together through books, educational projects, community activities, and puzzle competitions.
Rachelle is married to Naviel and is the proud mother of three sons—Jaythro, Xavier, and Gian—whose curiosity, imagination, and unique perspectives on the world inspire her creativity every day.
