Baki den Bario in Bubali on Saturday, October 11

ORANJESTAD – The next edition of Baki den Bario (“Waste Containers in the Neighborhood”) will take place in Bubali on Saturday, October 11.

Prime Minister Mike Eman, together with the stakeholders responsible for the Baki den Bario project, announced the designated area for this community clean-up initiative.

During this event, the government places large waste containers in specific neighborhoods, allowing residents to dispose of household waste in an organized manner. Serlimar and the City Inspector are responsible for coordinating the activity.

The containers will be placed at the Bubali Field from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Residents of Bubali and surrounding areas are invited to make use of this opportunity to properly dispose of their waste.

The company Karentra will also participate in this event and will be responsible for the collection of used oil, including cooking and motor oil, which are major contributors to problems in the sewerage system. For this reason, Karentra will be collecting oil waste during the Baki den Bario event.

While the activity is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m., it has been noted that community members frequently arrive before this time. To accommodate this, waste containers will be available ahead of time, and staff will be present to ensure smooth coordination.

During the Council of Ministers meeting, approval was granted for a permanent solution to neighborhood waste management. In collaboration with the Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor, Wendrick Cicilia, and the Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.), funds have been allocated for the establishment of six permanent waste collection sites in various neighborhoods. These sites will feature secured and monitored containers that are easily accessible to the community.

Once these permanent locations are operational, the Baki den Bario initiative will gradually be phased out.
