Athlete Ethan Westera got a warm welcome at the airport
ORANJESTAD - On Thursday, August 22, 2024, Minister of Education and Sports, Endy Croes, along with the Secretary-General of the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA) Nicole Hoevertsz, member of the COA Sports Directorate Jonathan Wever, family, and friends, visited Reina Beatrix International Airport to welcome Olympic athlete Ethan Westera.
The 26-year-old Ethan Westera represented Aruba in Olympic Windsurfing 2024 in Marseille, Paris, and finished in eighth place, competing against 24 countries. By placing himself in the top 8 of the Olympic Games, Ethan is the first Aruban athlete to receive an Olympic diploma.
In 2023, Ethan participated in the Pan American Games and won a silver medal, qualifying him for the Paris 2024 Olympics. At a very young age, Ethan began practicing windsurfing and represented Aruba in various international competitions.
Ethan is happy with his experience during the Olympic Games and even more with his achievements. COA Secretary-General Nicole Hoevertsz indicated that this windsurfing competition was spectacular, and she is very proud of Ethan for securing an eighth place.
