Aruba wins the Serie del Caribe championship and qualifies for the Little League World Series
ORANJESTAD - On Sunday, July 21, 2024, the Aruba Little League team (ages 11-12) returned to Aruba after winning the championship in the Serie del Caribe in Curaçao.
This achievement opens the way, after 13 years, for the national team to compete in the Little League World Series, which will take place next August in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
After a tough battle in Curaçao during the Serie del Caribe championship, our youth team played a very intense final against the team from the Dominican Republic, keeping all the spectators on the edge of their seats. On Saturday night, Aruba defeated the Dominican Republic 2-0 in a packed stadium to become the Serie del Caribe champion.
The heroes were greeted warmly by fans, family, and friends as soon as they arrived at Queen Beatrix International Airport. Minister of Finance and Culture Xiomara Maduro, on behalf of the government, along with Mr. Rafini of RBC as sponsor, awarded medals to the winning team and took an official photo. The attendees celebrated this achievement with the rhythms of the Brassband, after which the team, under police escort, made a champions' tour and received a treat from the government.
The Aruba team is now preparing for their trip in August to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to represent the entire Caribbean in the grand World Series, which will be broadcast live by ESPN.
