Aruba Police Force celebrates its 38th anniversary
ORANJESTAD - On Friday, August 16, the Aruba Police Force (KPA) celebrated its 38th anniversary with a Holy Mass at the Evangelical Alliance Church in Oranjestad.
For this occasion, the Minister of Justice and Social Affairs, Mr. Rocco Tjon, was also present at the Holy Mass to formally open the celebration of "Korpsdag."
It is to reflect on what has made the Aruba Police Force autonomous and respected today. To be a respected and reliable force, you must be productive, make strategic choices correctly, and ensure that your human capital consists of individuals dedicated to their work.
Over the past 38 years, various changes have been inevitable, and change is the most crucial factor in making an organization resilient. There have been changes in legislation, management, equipment, uniforms, leadership, strategies to combat crime, police training, and more. Although change is difficult, it is essential for an organization like the KPA, which provides security to our nation.
The Aruba Police Force is a dynamic constellation. Currently, the KPA consists of 523 employees, of which 146 have joined since 2014, meaning that 30% of the organization consists of personnel with ten years or less experience. With the new classes in 2024 and the number of officers retiring, this percentage of 30% will increase and could reach up to 50% of the KPA with ten years or less experience.
Minister of Justice Rocco Tjon congratulates the Aruba Police Force on their 38th anniversary for providing security to the community of Aruba and wishes each member perseverance and dedication to keep Aruba safe.
